About the Girl | Awards | Contact | DailyBoothFind Me | Twitter

My name is Domenica; I was born on March 8th, also known as International Women’s day. My horoscope is a Pisces, and my zodiac sign is the pig. I don’t believe in either but some people like to know. I currently do not have a job, but I do volunteer, and have been doing odd jobs to make some money. I am currently single. To tell you the truth I’ve never had a boyfriend. I don’t want to be a girl who has had more boyfriends that fingers on her hand. People always pronounce my name wrong, I’ve gotten used to it over time but it still annoys me. Especially when it takes them forever and they still don’t get it.

Name Origin

Domenica is an Italian name, and has a masculine version which is Domenico. You can hear how it’s pronounced here. I was named after my grandfather who died when I was 3 years of age. I was the only grandchild he ever met, unfortunately I don’t really remember him other then how he looked. Domenica also means Sunday in Italian. So when I got to church I see a lot of my name on the bulletin (a pamphlet with the mass in Italian), and here it quite often on the Italian TV stations. People always pronounce it wrong, I’ve gotten used to it over time but it still annoys me. Especially when it takes them forever and they still don’t get it.

Heritage

By that whole thing you can see that I am Italian. I am Canadian born, second generation. I’m not only Italian. See my mother’s side of the family is. My father is German, Irish, & Scottish. I’m a fairly mixed person.

I don’t know my dad’s side of the family because he is not close with them and complicated stuff. I do know my Italian side very well. I consider myself a FBI (full blooded Italian) and my friends think so too. I cannot speak the language but I do understand the Calabria dialect and regular Italian. I’m learning how to read it, and hopefully will one day learn the language.

Since I know about this side I can tell you that my mother’s parent came from 2 parts of Italy. Her father from Abruzzi, and her mother from Calabria. They met in Canada, and also got married here.

Interests

As for my interests I consider myself quite lame, I am not one to play sports, but I am a avid soccer fan, you can say it is my second religion. My favourite teams are Italy, AC Milan, and Real Madrid. Obviously the Italian national team.  My favourite player is Kaka; I did a whole PowerPoint on him for computer class. I must say though I am learning to like Italian players but this Brazilian has still stolen my heart.

As for entertainment, I like to watch Grey’s Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, and Teen Mom. I love listening to music, I cannot play any instruments though. I like the classics, and new music, though I do prefer the non-mainstream music. A few of my favourites are Paramore, Jonas Brothers, KISS, Rolling Stones, Muse, Metric, The Fray, ItaloBrothers, BassHunter, and a lot more. I like every genre other than country.
